I’ve been sick abed almost a week
– when I haven’t been leaping out and rushing to drain orem, anum, or stelionem.*
Thank God for my facebook and twitter friends, who have been keeping me up with
the news, old, new, and uplifting. Some links for you to follow. (Get this week
off to a good start!):
From yesterday’s “Borowitz Report” in The New Yorker:
“This
fall, we will ask the American people, ‘Do you want four more years of
knowledge, or do you want something else?’” [RNC chairman Reince] Priebus said.
Because: Ignorance is bliss. – The Bible [Two Corinthians 14:4]

From April 28’s NBC10.com:
Headline:
Worshipper Faces Manslaughter Charges in
Deadly Church Shooting in Montgomery County
Apparently the argument began
over whether or not a pew could be reserved. [Two Corinthians 15 addresses this
issue: you can reserve a seat, if you
come early and put your Bible in the place you plan to sit.]
But, from Carina Storrs' Special to CNN, also yesterday.

Headline: Going to church could help you live longer, study says
The study showed that:
“Women
who regularly attended religious services also had higher rates of social
support and optimism, had lower rates of depression and were less likely to
smoke. However, the researchers took into account these differences between
churchgoers and non-churchgoers when they calculated the decrease in death
rates of 13% to 33%.”
Granted, “The study also did not explore the
association in men. Previous research suggests that male churchgoers also
benefit, though their decrease in death rate is not as large as among women . .
